We receive many emails and phone calls looking for information on how to get started in learning the art of pole dancing. Due to the high volume of calls it is very difficult to answer/return calls.  We created this page with hopes that we're able to answer some of the many questions that are out there.  Of course feel free to send us an email if you have any additional questions.

Pole Dance Charlotte fun and fitness dance studio Inc. in operation since 2006 is a fun, flirty and effective alternative dance and fitness studio. We cater to all women and are committed to teaching pole dancing not only in a fun and flirty way, but also in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment.

The instructors of Pole Dance Charlotte consist of full-time students and everyday women just like you! All have been certified and were hired based on their talent and passion for teaching the art of pole dancing. We are committed to making sure our students have FUN, are challenged and are able to meet their personal fitness goals. This is why so many women have dropped their traditional gym workouts and switched to Pole Dancing. It is truly a FUN way to get in shape!
Unfortunately, many consider pole dancing as taboo simply due to the fact that it originated out of the local strip clubs and that is very unfortunate.  For those that choose to maintain this type of old-fashioned way of thinking, you are missing out on a great upper body and ab workout with a serious sensuous side, not to mention a fantastic way to lose weight and tone, while having fun.

Several of our current clients can tell you they have seen a significant difference in their bodies after just a few weeks!

FAQ:
What class should I start with first?
All non-members are welcome to try our 30 minute, $10.00 beginner pole sampler class. This class is offered at least  four days a week and is available to all non-pole dance charlotte members no reservations are needed to attened. Please check our class calendar for dates and times.

What should I wear?
We like to suggest that you wear a pair of capri pants and a t-shirt. Most studios suggest shorts but unless you are used to the friction created of skin to pole it is safer to wear something that will cover a little past the knee and upper body.

If I like the sampler how do I join?
You can join the studio the same day. In fact we will credit the cost of your pole sampler class towards your monthly membership.

How many class can I take in a month?
Under our unlimited pay as  you go membership you can take as many classes as your schedule can handle in a seven day work week. However we suggest that you come in no more than 3 times a week to avoid exhausting yourself, pole dancing is a lot of hard work!

Ladies beware!
As pole dancing becomes more popular it is important that you know which studio is right for you.
Please watch for the following signs of an unsafe studio.

* How many students to teacher ratio?
Let's be honest can one instructor watch more than eight students at a time? The answer is no. For safety reasons there should be no more than six students at a time to one teacher ratio.

* Who certified your instructor to teach poledancing?
Everyone that can dance on a pole is not necessarily the best
teacher. Make sure that your instructor has some sort of hands on certification, and check how long it took them to become certified. If your instructor can not tell you why you are unsuccesful in learning certain moves, it is probably because they have not been teaching long enough to know why. Additional instruction in some other form of dance is helpful.

Hello Everyone..

For those of you who knew us back when.....have you ever wondered what happened to our previous location of Pole Dance Charlotte @ the Lake prior to the University area? Well here is your answer, please see the article below. The same article can be found under the website of it's original author.....www.courthousenews.com
In case your wondering the defendant listed name Mr. Wood as my former business partner is my father, Raymond A. Wood.

Pole Dance Maven Sues Former Partner

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CN) - The founder of a chain of pole dance-based fitness studios says a former business partner misappropriated one of her outlets and swiped proprietary business information, including her "lap tease" routine, and the name for it.
Kelly Adams claims in Mecklenburg County Court that when she started her business in August 2006, its primary activity was holding "traveling pole parties." It evolved into a three-studio chain called Pole Dance Charlotte Fun & Fitness Studio, offering dance pole sessions and other fitness classes.
Adams said she created the curriculum and all of its choreography by herself.
In November 2008, Adams said, defendant Raymond Wood approached her and encouraged her to open a fourth Pole Dance Charlotte studio as a tax deduction for the coming tax year.
Adams claims Wood incorporated the new studio as Pole Dance Charlotte at the Lake, and he and Adams shared its start-up costs. Adams says she oversaw all the details of the business.
In late 2009, Adams says, she hired defendant Judith Storey as a freelance teacher, then promoted her to part-time manager, but fired her in January this year for "irreconcilable differences."
Almost immediately, Adams says, Wood hired both Judith Storey(current manager of Pole Fit Carolinas, Huntersville NC) and co-defendant Robert Storey to manage the studio, which he promptly converted to Pole Dance Cornelius Inc.
A week later, Adams says, she received a call from one of her instructors, who told her that the locks to the studio had been changed. The next day, Adams says, she received a Notice of Discontinuance for the lease of the studio and a letter from Wood, terminating their business relationship.
Adams claims the defendants conspired to usurp her interest in the studio, used her copyrighted material on their Web site, and are using her curriculum, methods, designs, techniques and traveling pole party format for profit.
She says they also tried to lure away her customers, inducing them to sign up with the breakaway business by offering one month's membership free.
Adams seeks injunctive relief, and treble and punitive damages on claims of conspiracy, unfair and deceptive trade practices, interference with actual and prospective economic advantage, and trading on her business's name.
She is represented by John F. Hanzel of Cornelius, N.C.

Recent testimonials
            Kelly,
I can't thank you enough for the sampler class you taught this morning. My best friends and I had a  ball! We were looking for something to help us break out of our comfort zones. Pole Dance Charlotte was just what the doctor ordered. We're all Christians, moms, and professional women and we are reserved, conservative, and bored, to be honest. Though my friends were excited about my invitation  to come to PDC,  they were hesitant. But, we all felt different afterwards. I noticed that we all walked a bit taller! It was obvious that we are in love with ourselves. Thanks! I'll be back.

Kelly,
I want to thank you so much for the class this past Friday.  I enjoyed myself so much, and was able to work muscles that I don't believe I have EVER worked before.  Even though I hit my treadmill everyday, my body was still feeling the pain of the pole.  You will be seeing much more of me once I return to town!  Thanks again, and keep up the GREAT work!
